Archbishop of Canterbury joins Kent dignitaries at Kent Neuro Therapy Centre Garden Party

Kent Neuro Therapy Centre welcomed the Archbishop of Canterbury alongside civic leaders, business representatives and supporters from across Kent for a special Garden Party showcasing the charity’s work supporting people living with neurological conditions.

The event, held at the charity’s centre in Canterbury on Friday 4 September, was co-hosted by the Lord Mayor of Canterbury, Councillor Alister Brady, who has chosen Kent Neuro Therapy Centre as his Charity of the Year.

Guests included the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend and Right Honourable Dame Sarah Mullally; Deputy Lieutenant of Kent, Stephen Kingsman; the High Sheriff of Kent, Martin Lukehurst; the Sheriff of Canterbury, Steph Jupe; and the Leader of Canterbury City Council, Councillor Alan Baldock.

They were joined by mayoral representatives from across Kent, local business leaders, supporters and members of the charity.

The evening provided an opportunity to introduce the Centre’s work to a wider audience and showcase how its expert care and therapies support people living with MS, Parkinson’s and stroke to work towards the goals that matter to them.

Staff, volunteers and members took guests on tours of the Centre, where they were able to see facilities including the hydrotherapy pool, specialist gym and oxygen therapy chamber and learn more about the range of therapies and support available to more than 600 people from across Kent.

Heidi Coleman, CEO of Kent Neuro Therapy Centre, said:

“It was a privilege to welcome so many people from across Kent to our Centre. Having the opportunity to show people what happens here is incredibly valuable – to see the facilities, meet the people behind our services and better understand the difference the right care and support can make for someone living with a neurological condition.

“As a charity, we rely on the support of our community to keep these services available. We hope the evening will lead to new relationships and opportunities to work together so that we can continue to be here for people who need us.”

The Lord Mayor of Canterbury, Councillor Alister Brady, said:

“Kent Neuro Therapy Centre is a local charity close to my heart, and it was the obvious choice when selecting my designated charity for the year.

“It has been an honour to co-host the Garden Party at the Centre and introduce so many new faces to the charity and its work. It is clear that the Centre has a huge impact on those who access its support, helping to improve the lives of people living with neurological conditions and their families.

“I look forward to continuing to build my relationship with the Centre and helping more people across our community learn about the vital work it does.”

Kent Neuro Therapy Centre provides a range of expert care and therapies from its purpose-built Centre in Canterbury, including neuro physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, gym-based therapy and exercise, alongside services supporting emotional wellbeing and quality of life.

The charity needs to raise around £850,000 each year to continue providing its services and maintaining the facilities and equipment its members rely on.
