About Kent Neuro Therapy Centre
Specialist therapies and expert care empowering people living with multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s and stroke.
We are a charity that supports people living with multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s and stroke to maintain independence, build confidence and improve quality of life in a welcoming, fully accessible setting in Canterbury.
For more than 40 years, we have supported individuals and families through personalised therapy, practical support and a strong sense of community.
What we do
We provide integrated specialist therapies under one roof, delivered by an experienced clinical team. Access to our therapies is on a self-referral basis.
Our therapies include:
- Physiotherapy
- Aquatic physiotherapy
- Gym classes
- Counselling and peer support
- Complementary therapies
- Oxygen therapy
Our members receive a personalised approach, shaped around their goals, needs and condition.
Who we support
We support adults living with neurological and long-term conditions, including:
- Multiple sclerosis
- Parkinson’s
- Stroke
- Spinal cord injury
Family members and carers are also welcome as part of our community.

How it works
Getting started is simple:
- Fill in our new enquiry form – you can self-refer.
- We will talk through your needs and arrange an initial face-to-face assessment.
- Once registered as a member, you can access therapies appropriate to you.
No GP referral is required.
Access to therapies at the Centre is through membership, which helps us provide ongoing specialist services and keep therapies affordable.
Our Centre
Our purpose-built Centre is fully accessible and designed to provide a calm, supportive setting for therapy and social connection. Facilities include a specialist hydrotherapy pool, neuro gym, therapy rooms, exercise areas and community spaces.
We are located on the outskirts of Canterbury with free on-site parking and step-free access.
The social space
Our on-site self-service café is an important part of the Centre.
It offers a welcoming space where members, carers and visitors can meet, enjoy light refreshments and take time to connect with others.
For many people, the social space becomes a natural hub of conversation and support alongside their therapy sessions.
Getting here
The Centre is located just outside Canterbury in a peaceful setting with on-site parking and step-free access.
While there is no direct public transport to the Centre, many people travel to Canterbury city centre first and then continue their journey by taxi.
Common options include:
- train to Canterbury West or Canterbury East, followed by a short taxi journey
- bus into Canterbury city centre, then taxi to the Centre
- travelling by car, with parking available on site

Our journey
Timeline of our history
From a small member-led charity in 1984 to Kent Neuro Therapy Centre today, our story is shaped by determination, community support and a commitment to specialist care.
1984
The centre is founded
Local people living with multiple sclerosis came together to create specialist support in East Kent and established the Centre in Canterbury.
Our first home opens
A small, prefabricated building at Merton Lane North became the Centre’s first base, offering therapies and practical support.
1984-2013
Services and community grow
Over the years, the Centre expanded its therapies, membership and support, becoming an important source of care and connection for people affected by MS.
2014
Work begins on a new building
After a successful fundraising appeal backed by members, volunteers, donors including Frank Brake and the local community, construction started on a new purpose-built facility.
2015
The new Centre opens
Members were welcomed into a modern specialist centre designed to offer improved facilities, greater capacity and room for future development facility.
2026
Kent Neuro Therapy Centre begins
Following a consultation period and vote of members, the charity became Kent Neuro Therapy Centre, reflecting broader support for people living with neurological and long-term conditions.
