Complementary and wellbeing therapies
Approaches to health that focus on supporting a person’s overall wellbeing – mind, body and emotions – alongside conventional medical care.

Strength in unity
A peer support group for people living with long term health conditions.

Acupuncture
A traditional therapy involving the insertion of very fine needles at specific points on the body to support pain management and overall wellbeing.

Counselling
A place to talk about your feelings and concerns which can help you make sense of what is happening in your life including your neurological condition.

Massage and manual lymph drainage
Massage improves the circulation, relaxes tense muscles, helps relieve muscle spasticity and is an excellent way to unwind and help restore a sense of wellbeing and balance. Carers can assist with hoisting onto the massage table if needed. There is no expectation to undress fully – treatment can focus on specific areas such as the arms or legs and your comfort and dignity are always respected.
Manual lymph drainage (MLD) supports the movement of excess fluid and may assist lymphatic function.

Podiatry
The experienced team at East Kent Footcare provide foot care to our members. Good foot health is essential. Podiatry treatment can improve comfort, mobility and overall foot health. Healthy feet can also make walking feel more comfortable.

Reflexology
Reflexology involves applying pressure to specific areas of the feet that correspond to different parts of the body, supporting relaxation and wellbeing. Our therapists are experienced in neurological conditions.

Art and craft groups
Our art and craft groups are where people come together to create, learn and enjoy creative activities. A welcoming space to create, learn and connect, helping to build friendships and reduce social isolation.

Skylarks singing
Canterbury Skylarks is a singing group for people with Parkinson’s and their companions, led by Artistic Director Emily Renshaw-Kidd and part of the Sing to Beat Parkinson’s network.

Action potential simulation
A drug-free therapy designed to support pain management and recovery. The APS machine delivers micro-current electrical stimulation designed to replicate the body’s natural signals. This is applied in a similar way to TENS, but is a very different treatment.

Sound healing
The Himalayan bowls will be played whilst you are relaxing on the couch, around you and placed on specific areas of the body to allow the full effect of the healing vibrations. Group and individual sessions.
To access our therapies, you will need to become a member.
