Richard Mason, Chair

As Chair of the Board, I am very much looking forward to leading the charity and supporting our members. I have been a Business Development Director for Saint‑Gobain for over two years, and before that I spent nearly nine years as a Regional Sales Director for British Gypsum. With a background grounded in construction and project management, I plan to bring my strengths in relationship‑building, system implementation, and strategic development to Kent Neuro. I am committed to continuous learning, personal growth, and contributing to the long‑term success of the organisation. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, travelling, cooking, and playing golf.

I am delighted to return for a second period as a Trustee. I first served during the major fundraising drive and the build of the new Centre. The challenges are different now but I have learned that there are always challenges! I was diagnosed with MS back in 2002 and the therapies and the support that the Centre offers make a big difference to my quality of life. My background is in conference and banqueting and I hope to be able to make good use of those skills to develop new services at the Centre.

Joanne has been a Trustee since 2025.

“I joined the Board of Trustees earlier this year having been an associate member of the Centre for almost five years and a full member in 2025 since diagnosis.

“I run a relaxed monthly neurological support group at the Centre every second Friday of the month which provides support to sufferers and their carers.

“My husband also has primary progressive MS and frontal lobe epilepsy and is now unfortunately in specialist nursing care due to both our capabilities significantly reducing our independence. This however gives me first hand carer and patient experience of managing everyday life and advocacy.

“My background in Business Leadership and Learning and Development aids the Board with governance and mission strategy and my transferable skills will support the Centre in both a patient centre focus and progressive way.”

I am very pleased to be part of the board of trustees for a charity that is very close to my heart. My mother had MS and both my parents were involved in the Centre prior to it being in the current fantastic building. I also worked for the Centre at the very beginning of the project to build the new building. My wife also has MS and we both gain so much from attending the Centre and using the therapies on offer.

I am very keen that the Centre should continue to grow, flourish and be able to offer support to those who need it for many years to come. I bring with me a background in data management and data analysis.

I feel privileged to join Kent Neuro Therapy Centre as a Trustee, I am a Chartered Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (CMIIA) and bring with me over 30 years’ experience in governance, risk management and assurance across the charity, public and private sectors.

Alongside my professional background, this role is very close to my heart. My grandmother lived with multiple sclerosis, and seeing the impact of MS on her and my family has given me a deep appreciation of the importance of specialist, compassionate support.

Working alongside my fellow trustees, I aim to give stakeholders confidence that the Centre’s services consistently meet the highest standards, from those who benefit from its work to the funders who make it possible.

With 13 years of experience at Orbital Internet Group, including two as Head of Engineering, I bring a strong background in telecommunications and leadership. My focus has always been on fostering collaboration, inspiring teams, and driving innovation in a rapidly evolving industry.
