Naomi was diagnosed with Relapsing Remitting MS in December 2017 when she was 27 years old, although she experienced several MS symptoms prior to this diagnosis.

In 2012 during Naomi’s time in teacher training in Bristol, she noticed that she was becoming more tired than usual alongside constant pins and needles in both legs lasting for a month. In 2016, Naomi had Bell’s Palsy, followed by double vision, vertigo and loss of movement in her hands. This meant that she had to take time off work as a Music Teacher due to being unable to write, play the piano or drive. After undergoing many different tests, an MRI scan in October 2017 confirmed that she has MS.
“Being diagnosed initially made me feel relieved to know the reason behind all of these symptoms, but also worried about what my future would be like with MS. It took time to digest this information, and I needed to make changes in my life to adapt. There were times when I felt apprehensive with a very low mood; not emotions I was used to experiencing usually being a very positive person.”
In 2018, Naomi and her husband made the decision to move back to Kent to be closer to family. “This is when I discovered the incredible Kent MS Therapy Centre. Louise was the first person I was introduced to at the centre, and she explained to me how the oxygen chamber worked. Over the years, I have found that oxygen therapy sessions has helped to lift my mood, energy levels and to reduce fatigue. It is also very relaxing to take time out and to not be distracted by anything. Oxygen therapy has also helped me to sleep better”.
“Reflexology and back massages with Iuliana and Deborah at the centre have hugely helped to relieve muscle tension as well as helping me to become calmer”.
Naomi still has the occasional flare up of MS symptoms but she is certain that regular oxygen therapy and massages has improved her wellbeing and quality of life. She would definitely recommend KMSTC to anyone with MS. “It also reassuring and comforting to be able to talk to others in similar situations. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming”.
